DATE: February 26, 2004 TO: ALL STATE AND TRIBAL IV-D DIRECTORS
RE:
Dear Colleague: The Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) hosted the National Child Support Systems Conference in Washington, DC on December 9 - 11, 2003. This event brought together state, territory, and tribal IV-D staff, Federal OCSE staff, regional staff, and OCSE contractors to discuss the role of state and Federal systems in the future of the child support program. All attendees participated actively in the eight plenary sessions of the Conference. Topics of discussion ranged from the technical – development of an integrated Child Support Enterprise and associated data standards efforts, to the programmatic – medical support, new legislative proposals, and interstate strategies. Information shared during these sessions will be of great value as we work to modernize the Federal Parent Locator Service (FPLS). Enclosed is a synopsis of the Conference which provides summary information on each of the plenary sessions. For additional information on the Conference, please contact Jean Shaw at (202) 260-2977 or jshaw1@acf.hhs.gov. I thank all the participants for the time and energy they dedicated to the Conference. Sincerely, Sherri Z. Heller, Ed.D. Enclosure cc: Regional Program Managers
