RE: Solicitation of Promising Practices for 2008-2009 Compendium

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce the Promising Practices Compendium 2007 is now on the OCSE website at: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/pol/IM/2008/im-08-02.htm. We hope you will take a few moments to review it for practices that might be useful in your state’s child support program.

We are now soliciting Promising Practices for the next edition of the Promising Practice Compendium 2008-2009. Practices which address the following subject areas are especially requested:

• Decreasing the need for default orders and imputing income
• Strategies to identify and obtain unreported, under-reported, and unearned income
• Arrears Compromise - especially practices in States that have made changes in their policies establishing judgments for prior periods at the time a support order is entered
• Collaborative programs and outreach efforts to ensure services are made available to incarcerated/released parents
• Innovative/effective techniques for locating CPs, as well as NCPs
• Innovative/effective pro se processes made available to child support customers
• Innovative efforts to transmit payments electronically in international child support cases
• Working with Tribal IV-D programs to reduce State caseloads and increase collections
• Paternity establishment
• Work with low income NCPs
• Child support tax credit
• Public awareness campaigns
• Prevention activities with youth
• Leadership development - succession planning

Should you have other successful practices in your State which improved results of the child support program, we invite you to share those with us as well.

We look forward to receiving your practices by July 1, 2008. For your convenience, we are attaching the format required for these practices.
