DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTER
DCL-10-12
DATE: July 12, 2010
TO: State and Tribal Child Support Directors
RE: Tribal Child Support Enforcement Programs
Dear Colleague:
Please join me in welcoming the Eastern Shoshone Business Council to the child support enforcement community. This tribe was recently awarded comprehensive tribal child support funding. To date, the Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) has approved comprehensive funding for 38 tribal programs and has also approved start up funding for 9 tribal programs. This is truly an exciting time!
While every state may not have a tribe within its borders, tribal child support programs and state child support programs will surely intersect and will have occasion to work together. Given that, state child support programs are reminded of the state plan requirement to cooperate with tribal child support programs and to extend the full range of services available under state child support plans.
If you have questions regarding a specific tribal child support program, please contact that program directly. Contact information for each tribal child support program can be found on the OCSE website at: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/resources/tribal/. The information on this website is updated regularly. You may also contact your regional office representatives.
Thank you for all your efforts to improve the lives of children.
Sincerely,
Vicki Turetsky
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
