TO: STATE AGENCIES ADMINISTERING CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT PLANS UNDER TITLE IV-D OF THE SOCIAL SECURITY ACT AND OTHER INTERESTED INDIVIDUALS

SUBJECT: STATE BEST PRACTICES

BACKGROUND: The Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) is pleased to release another installment of "Tips, Techniques and Technology for Using FPLS Data." This edition continues with innovations and procedures that states have developed to take advantage of the new tools in child support enforcement. All releases of this document are available on the OCSE web site.

This enclosed installment includes articles on the following:

  • The State of Illinois’ Use of Automation in Its Processes
  • Employer Database Best Practices
  • Impact Assessment of Texas’ Employer New Hire Outreach

I hope that you will benefit from knowing more about what other states are doing and that time and effort can be saved by learning from other states’ experiences. These articles include contact information if you wish to follow up on a best practice.

The creativity of state staff is demonstrated in these practices, and I trust that you will find the enclosed installment helpful in your own efforts to optimize your program.
