SUBJECT: Building a Tribal IV-D Program: A Guide to the Start-Up Application Process

BACKGROUND: The Final Rule on Tribal Child Support Enforcement programs was published in the Federal Register (60 FR 16638) on March 30, 2004. The Rule implements section 455(f) of the Social Security Act and sets forth the requirements and related provisions for Tribal IV-D programs. The requirements are found at 45 CFR part 309.

The Guide provides useful information for Tribes and Tribal organizations that may be interested in operating a Child Support Enforcement program.
