RE: Federal Offset Program User Guide

Dear Coordinators:

We are pleased to announce the release of the revised Federal Offset Program (FOP) User Guide, Version 6.1. This updated version of the User Guide includes system changes implemented in Release 02-02, November 15, 2002, as well as minor corrections and date-oriented updates (for release details, see Release Specifications at /programs/cse/newhire/library/fop/fopspec02-02.htm). The attached chart provides a summary of the changes made from the previous FOP User Guide, Version 6.0 and where they occur in Version 6.1.

This document is being provided on CD-ROM to the Federal Offset coordinator or point of contact for your state. It can be viewed in two different formats, WORD® (.DOC) and Portable Document Format (.PDF). The PDF format requires the Adobe® Acrobat® Reader™ software, which can be obtained for free from the website http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html. It is strongly recommended that the PDF format be used to print copies of the FOP User Guide at your site, as this will ensure that the document will print exactly as designed. Differences in printers may cause unpredictable results with the DOC version (i.e., page breaks may inadvertently occur at the wrong place).

Version 6.1 of the User Guide will also be available on the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement’s website by March 28, 2003, in PDF format and in the ZIP compressed file format. It will be made available in HTML format on the website at a later date. Notification will be sent out via e-flash when these formats of the revised User Guide are accessible from the website.
