Chirp - Fertility rate in 2012 down only slightly

The National Center for Health Statistics reports that the U.S. fertility rate in 2012 was down only slightly from 2011, a sharp contrast to the roughly 3% decline every year between 2007 and 2010.  This trend parallels the recent economic downturn and recovery, suggesting that families delayed having children during the recession and that the effects of the recession on childbearing have begun to wane.  See the full report.
