Tribal Child Support: Similar but not the Same

Employers familiar with the child support program may be surprised to receive an income withholding order from a tribe.  Forty-five American Indian and Alaska Native tribes operate federally funded child support programs.  The American Payroll Association’s September 2012 issue of Payroll Currently shares information about tribal child support programs and what employers need to know about working with them.
