ACF State Team
DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTER
DATE: May 18, 2011
TO: ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS
RE: ACF State Team
I am writing to advise you of a new State Team initiative taking place within the regional offices of the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and to provide you with an overview of the new ACF State Team. Acting Assistant Secretary David Hansell has sent a similar letter to the Secretary or Commissioner of your state’s human services department.
Regional staff will be joining Regional Administrators and staff from other programs in forming ACF State Teams. These teams will be chaired by the Regional Administrator, and will have representation from all ACF programs and offices that have regional staff. The State Teams will provide more comprehensive information-sharing and a broader state perspective as well strengthen the federal/state partnerships on which so many ACF programs depend.
While the ACF Regional Administrator is available to work directly with your state’s human services Secretary or Commissioner as the principal ACF point of contact, you should continue to work with your OCSE Regional Program Manager and program specialists as in the past. It is our hope that the state team structure will provide your state’s human services agency with more coordinated access to resources across ACF programs.
I share Acting Assistant Secretary Hansell’s confidence that ACF’s State Teams will lead to more effective communication across ACF programs, and that this new approach will improve our ability to coordinate information and resources within ACF in a way that assists your state human services leadership. Please do not hesitate to contact me or your regional contacts with any questions or concerns you may have.
