SUBJECT:Genetic Testing Laboratories

CONTENT: The regulations for the program performance standards for the Family Support Act of 1988, P.L. 100-485, require States to use laboratories which perform genetic testing at a reasonable cost through competitive procurement. The Office of Child Support Enforcement's (OCSE) commitment to this endeavor has resulted in the compilation of the "Directory of Genetic Testing Laboratories" which was originally disseminated to States in October 1989 and revised in May 1991. Attached is the Third Edition of the Directory which reflects data collected in the Spring of 1993.

This Directory will help States identify laboratories which perform, at a reasonable cost, legally and medically acceptable genetic tests.
