DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTER

DCL-13-01

DATE:  January 2, 2013

TO:  ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

RE:  Invitation for Financial Management and Reporting Training for New State Directors and Executive Staff

Dear Colleague:

We are delighted to announce that we are redesigning our training modules for new child support directors and executive staff.  It has been many years since the federal Office of Child Support Enforcement sponsored the development of such training.  With the arrival of many new child support directors and executive staff, now is a good time to update our previous training to reflect changes in the program as well as new methods of training delivery.

As a first step, you are invited to participate in this pilot delivery of the Child Support Financial Management and Reporting module hosted by OCSE.  This training will introduce key concepts regarding the financial aspects of the child support program, including an overview of such issues as funding child support with federal and state dollars, making the most of incentives, understanding penalties, and planning your budget. The training will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, which is the day before the NCSEA Policy Forum begins.  For your convenience, the training will take place at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington, DC, which is also the conference hotel for the NCSEA Policy Forum.  The training will begin at 1:30 p.m. EST in the Hermitage Room located in the lower level of the hotel. The training will conclude around 4:30 p.m.  We are able to accommodate 25 people for the training and will give priority to new child support directors; new executive staff will be added on a first come, first serve basis.

In addition, I am making myself available for lunch with all child support directors and executives prior to the start of the training.  The lunch and dialogue is open to all child support directors and executives, even if you are not attending the training.  Please know that lunch is at your own expense.  If you and your staff are interested in attending the training or joining me for lunch and dialogue, please contact Wendy Gray, Senior Associate with the Center for the Support of Families, at wgray@csfmail.org or (240) 676-7180 to register no later than January 11, 2013.  Wendy can answer any questions you might have about either the lunch or the training.

I hope to see you in February!

Sincerely,

Vicki Turetsky
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
