DCL-07-23
DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTER
DCL-07-23
DATE: August 2, 2007
TO: ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS
RE: Open Comment Period – National Medical Support Notice (NMSN) Part A
45 CFR 303.32 and 29 CFR 2590.609.2 implemented provisions of the Child Support Performance and Incentive Act of 1998 (CSPIA), Public Law 105-200. These provisions require State Child Support Enforcement agencies, under title IV-D of the Social Security Act, to enforce the health care coverage provision in child support orders, and to use the NMSN to aid enforcement. The current form, which expires on February 29, 2008, can be accessed on the OCSE Website. Tribal IV-D agencies are not required to use this form.
In compliance with the requirements of Section 3506(c)(2)(A) of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, the Administration for children and Families is soliciting public comments on the renewal of the NMSN. As of July 24, 2007 a notice for public comment has been posted to the Federal Register. The notice appears on page 40304 in Volume 72, Number 141.
The need to reauthorize the NMSN provides the opportunity to consider some revisions. Please send your comments and suggestions to Thomas Miller at thomas.miller@acf.hhs.gov. When commenting, please be sure to reference OMB control number 0970-0222. Consideration will be given to comments received by September 24, 2007.
Sincerely,
Margot Bean
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
