RE: The Family Violence Indicator Computer-Based Training Program
Dear Colleague:
Enclosed is the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement's (OCSE) new Family Violence (FV) Indicator Computer-Based Training (CBT) Program. As you know, the FV Indicator is an important component of the Federal Case Registry as well as each State Case Registry (SCR). The training program presents general information about the Federal Parent Locator Service (FPLS), as well as the components of family violence -- domestic violence and child abuse. In addition, the program sets out detailed information regarding:
- How the FV Indicator is used;
- State approaches to placement, removal, and impact; and
- The override process that permits the disclosure of a protected person’s data to an appropriate State court.
This training program is interactive and, while it is designed for individual use, State trainers may also find it a meaningful tool for group training sessions. The CBT goes beyond the mechanics of setting and overriding the FV Indicator and therefore may be of interest to others in your Community. You should feel free to produce additional copies. If you do not have the ability to produce copies, please contact OCSE and we will provide limited quantities to you.
Thank you for your continued efforts on behalf of America’s children.
Sincerely,
Frank Fuentes
Acting Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
