Youth: Ways To Get Involved with FYSB

Youth Can Serve as Grant Reviewers

FYSB seeks youth, typically between the ages of ages of 19 and 24, to serve as grant reviewers for FYSB-funded grant programs.

A grant reviewer is a person who has expertise in the areas applicable to a particular grant program (e.g., youth development, runaway or homeless youth, mentoring); can effectively analyze grant applications against criteria; can clearly express his or her evaluation in writing; and is interested in contributing to the advancement of knowledge. Grant review panels are selected to reflect diversity with regard to geographic area, range or type of experience, ethnicity, and gender.

Most reviews take place onsite in the Washington, DC area. Some reviews are Internet-based and do not require travel. Grant reviewers receive compensation for their services, and meals and housing are typically provided for onsite reviews, as well as training sessions for all levels of reviewers.

If you think you’re interested in evaluating grant applications, for more information or to submit a resume, go to Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF) Grant Web and check out the Call for Grant Reviewers.
