Minimum requirements for Chairpersons: Must be willing and able to read approximately 1,000 pages of typed text spread out across a six-day period. Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written). Must have high level of comfort facilitating a group process toward a specific goal in a time-limited situation. Must have the ability to control and manage all required forms and documentation, have excellent word-processing skills on a laptop, and have the ability to synthesize information from panel discussions resulting in a compilation of reviewer comments. Must have the highest ethical standards for reviewing proprietary information, maintaining confidentiality and avoiding any conflict of interest. Experience being a reviewer is required. Expertise in the area to be reviewed is a must. Must be willing and able to work long hours for the entire period of review. Minimum requirements for Grant Reviewers: Must be willing and able to read and evaluate approximately 1,000 pages of typed text during a six-day period. Must be able to provide both written and oral evaluative comments1 based on professional knowledge measured against published criteria - not personal opinion. Working as a team member under the leadership of a Chairperson, must be able to listen to input from other panelists, engage in discussion, bridge differences, and work with the Chairperson to synthesize evaluative comments. Must have the highest ethical standards for reviewing proprietary information, maintaining confidentiality, and avoiding any conflict of interest.
