Definition

A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America), and who maintains tribal affiliation or community attachment.

Enter the one digit code indicating whether the child's race is American Indian or Alaskan Native.

This item applies to each child receiving care. Select “yes” for as many races as reported by the family. (Each child should have at least one race coded “yes.” Multi-racial children should have a “1” in more than one race field.)

Note that a zero is used for a specific reason; for “unknown/not reported” use a blank or space.
