AFI Resource Center
The AFI Resource Center provides training and technical assistance to AFI grantees, their project partners, and other organizations that are providing asset building services across the nation. The Resource Center’s services include:
- IDAresources.org
– The Resource Center webpage features a wide variety of information on planning and administering successful IDA projects. - AFI Academies – Two-day intensive events for teams from AFI Projects and partners.
- Topical Conference Calls and Web-Based Seminars – Facilitated conference calls or small group discussion about asset-building issues and AFI Project administrative matters.
- Customized Technical Assistance – Telephone or in-person assistance on administrative or programmatic issues such as recruiting participants, providing financial literacy education, building partnerships, or closing-out grants.
- AFI2 project management tool -- The Assets for Independence Information System (AFI²) is a program management tool for grantee organizations. The system is web-based, user-friendly, and secure. Grantees use it to track participant progress and create on-demand reports for real-time data.

AFI Program Background
Assets for Independence (AFI) is a Federal demonstration program that provides grants to enable community-based nonprofits and State, local, and Tribal government agencies to implement and demonstrate an asset-based approach for offering low-income families help out of poverty. Grantees provide eligible individuals and families with access to matched savings accounts called Individual Development Accounts and financial education training, as tools for enabling them to before more economically secure.
