PURPOSE:

To inform grantees and other interested parties of the electronic publication of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program Report to Congress for Fiscal Year 2007.

BACKGROUND:

Section 2610 of title XXVI directs the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to submit an annual report to Congress containing a summary of specified types of data collected on home energy use and households assisted under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

CONTENT:

In response to the Congressional reporting requirements, HHS recently submitted to Congress the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program Report to Congress for Fiscal Year 2007.  This is the twenty-sixth annual Report to Congress on energy assistance programs administered by the Department.  The Report includes State-specific data from the LIHEAP Household Report for FY 2007 and the LIHEAP Grantee Survey for FY 2007.  Currently, a copy of the LIHEAP Report to Congress for FY 2006 is available on our website at:

http://archive.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ocs/liheap/report/index.html

A copy of the LIHEAP Report to Congress for FY 2007 will be available on our website and emailed to State grantees.  The LIHEAP Home Energy Notebook for Fiscal Year 2007 supplements this Report.  The Notebook is available on our web site at:

http://archive.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ocs/liheap/publications/notebook2...

This report differs from the Department's previous reports.  It incorporates tables and text from the LIHEAP Home Energy Notebook for Fiscal Year 2007 into Section II. Home Energy Data.  It also contains three appendices instead of nine—with the text from the remaining six incorporated into Sections II – IV.

We would like to thank the LIHEAP grantees for their cooperation in providing data for the Report.
