Organization Description: enFamilia, Inc. Art and Family Center was created to provide educational programs to help improve and preserve family life for a large population of immigrant and migrant/seasonal farm workers in the South Dade area of Miami-Dade County in Florida.
Use(s) of ACF Program Grant Funds: The proposed South Dade Alliance for Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Program will implement a holistic, multi-faceted, and culturally sensitive program designed to improve the well being of families by increasing the proportion of sons and daughters growing up with responsible, involved, caring and committed fathers. The proposed program will target six diverse sites to host twenty four workshops for a projected two hundred sixty (260) Hispanic and Haitian fathers.

Organization Description: The Exchange Club CASTLE has a 25 year history of providing child abuse prevention services on the Treasure Coast. The CASTLE is accredited through the Council on Accreditation and operates all programs within a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) model. Since 2000, the CASTLE has operated a supervised visitation center, whose main focus is the protection of women and children who have been victims of domestic violence.
Use(s) of ACF Program Grant Funds: The project (Strong Fathers/Strong Families) is a collaborative effort designed to encourage responsible fatherhood in incarcerated fathers and promote responsible parenting in reunified families. It is estimated that 150 fathers will enroll in the first year of the project. Likewise, it is estimated that 60 mothers and 60 children will enroll in concurrent services during year one. The program also projects an estimated 30 families enrolling in extended in-home parenting education upon the fathers’ release from incarceration. Incarcerated fathers will take classes based on the curriculum Responsible Fathering which consists of 12 sessions of 2 hours each for a total of 24 hours of instruction and evaluation in the first year of the project. Mothers will be getting their own parenting education while the children of incarcerated fathers will be offered enrollment in a support group.

Organization Description: Established in 1977, CAC is a nonprofit agency that provides consultation, education and direct service programs in the area of child abuse and neglect. In Hillsborough County, CAC’s Father’s Resource and Networking Center program is the only comprehensive program for fathers, children and families.
Use(s) of ACF Program Grant Funds: Funding will be used to provide two programs – a Nurturing Fathers Program, which is a 13-week, 2 hours per week group based education program designed to strengthen a fathers role in the family and a Nurturing Parents program which is a 15 week, 2 hours per week group based parenting education program designed to serve at-risk families or families with histories of abuse, neglect and domestic violence. Monthly support groups for everyone who has completed either of these two programs will also be available. When needed, the program will also provide or refer to support services such as psychosocial assessments, case management and professional counseling.

Organization Description: The Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) is the IV-D Agency in Georgia, located in the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
Use(s) of ACF Program Grant Funds: This program will provide a child access and visitation services project in three cities in the State of Georgia – Dublin, Sandersville, and Swainsboro. OCSS intends to service 200 non-custodial fathers, 200 mothers and at least 200 children, promoting the father’s involvement with their children emotionally and financially. The project will provide skill-based parenting education, information on good parenting practices, counseling, meditation, and the coordination of child visitation sessions. The primary goals of the project are to: 1) increase the emotional involvement; 2) increase child support collections on those cases where non-custodial parents can be motivated through better visitation; 3) increase medical insurance coverage on these same areas; 4) increase parenting time for these non-custodial parents where access is a problem; and 5) reaffirm earlier findings that intervention with access and visitation issues improve child support payment frequency and amount.

Organizational Description: COPES, Inc. (Council on Prevention and Education: Substances) was incorporated in 1981 to advocate a range of approaches and services to deal with education, outreach with primary and secondary prevention, and intervention as they relate to substance abuse and violence in the community.
Use(s) of ACF Program Grant Funds: Increase knowledge and use of effective communication skills; marital satisfaction; knowledge and use of effective conflict resolution skills; knowledge and use of effective parenting skills; and level of social support. The Creating Lasting Family Curriculum will be used to support project activities.

Organization Description: The Choanoke Area Development Association (CADA) was founded in 1962 as a regional organization to promote and coordinate family and community development and improve the quality of life for all residents in Bertie, Halifax, Hertford, and Northampton Counties of North Carolina. CADA is the lead agency for the Fathers in Focus Network which is comprised of non-profits, local agencies, law enforcement, juvenile justice, educational institutions, and faith-based organizations in select counties of North Carolina.
Use(s) of ACF Program Grant Funds: The purpose of this project is to provide young fathers with the knowledge and skills to accept their responsibilities as fathers. The program will provide a comprehensive education and case management outreach to promote responsible fatherhood to 100 at-risk father ages 16-30. The curriculum used will be Fatherhood Development: A Curriculum for Young Fathers. Fathers will be expected to participate in peer meetings, socialization events with their children, and attend workshops. An annual Summit will foster community awareness and support for the program.

The economic stability components include: helping fathers improve their economic status by providing job training (#1); and coordinating with existing employment services (#2); and offering financial planning (#4).
Organizational Description: The South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families is a statewide 501 (c)(3) that provides the infrastructure for service delivery, implements programs, and provides technical assistance for seven non-traditional programs serving twelve communities.
Use(s) of ACF Program Grant Funds: Funds will be used to: identify and reduce existing barriers to employment for low-income fathers; strengthen life skills; increase number of fatherhood participants earning a livable wage; increase knowledge and awareness of child abuse and its prevention; increase training of staff and participants on anger management, communication, and substance abuse prevention; strengthen culturally sensitive strategies on fathering and co-parenting; and increase educational focus on the benefits of marriage. Curricula will address the topics of anger management, marriage, and parenting.

Organizational Description: The Shelby County Department of Corrections is the largest correctional center in the region and has operated a number of Federal and locally funded projects, including a life skills program for female prisoners.
Use(s) of ACF Program Grant Funds: The goals of the project are to: increase the number of children who build bonds with their father through expanding child friendly visitation and skills based parenting education; instill responsible, joint parenting through the dissemination of information on good parenting practices; encourage fathers to take responsibility for all of their children through peer led parenting classes; enable fathers with developmental delays or other conditions to competently support their children and families through support groups and extended visitation sessions with special needs children; and promote healthy and sustained marriage through skills based marriage education and preparation programs.

Organization Description: The Shelby County Division of Corrections, established in 1819, is recognized for “its emphasis on changing human behavior to more socially acceptable attitudes that can result in crime reduction in the community”. SCDOC is the largest correctional facility in its region of the South, larger than any other county, state or federal facility located within its geographical region.
Use(s) of ACF Program Grant Funds: ACF funds will be use to expand the already existing program “Project REACHH”. “Project REACHH” is designed to incrementally build participant’s sense of responsibility and accountability, stimulate and help formulate their goals for being a good father and husband and provide them with the skills and supports to accomplish their goals. Participants will have child-friendly visits with their children and will complete parenting classes that include peer-led character-based education and lessons on how parents can use “teachable moments” to promote their children’s social skills. Participants will also be able to take PAIRS (couples healthy marriage classes with their partners or classes offered to men only), and participate in Family Group Conferencing (FGC). SCDOC intends to upgrade the parenting curriculum, increase the number of parenting classes, and increase the number of children in the program from 150 annually to minimum of 360 annually serving 150 families in year one. Finally, this project will create a child-friendly visitation area in a multi-purpose room within the Adult Offender Center (AOC) and offer more intense GED courses and jobs training skills to help repair relationship issues through FGC.
