OFA Issues Letter on Supporting the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)

The Department of Health and Human Services,  Office of Family Assistance encourages states and tribes to explore the use of TANF funds to support programs through partnerships  with providers, human service agencies and other community partners in an effort to develop  subsidized employment opportunities for youth and adults, summer jobs programs for needy and at-risk youth that provide employment, educational experiences, and essential skills such as financial literacy and time management. One such program is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Summer Food Service Program, that helps to ensure children have access to meals during the summer when school is out.
