OFA Proposes Changes to State TANF Financial Reporting

A Federal Register Notice published September 12, 2013 invites comments on proposed revisions to the financial reports that states submit quarterly on their Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) block grant and maintenance-of-effort (MOE) spending.

The proposed changes include a revised and expanded list of spending categories to gather better information on how states spend these funds.  OFA is also proposing to change the accounting method to more accurately track actual expenditures that occur in a fiscal year.  Comments are due by November 12, 2013.   See the Information Memo, revised form and revised instructions for more information including how to submit comments.

On September 23, 2013, OFA conducted a webinar for state and local TANF officials that provided an overview of proposed revisions to TANF financial reporting. The PowerPoint slides are available below.
