State Letter #05-13

Print Friendly Version

TO: STATE REFUGEE COORDINATORS
NATIONAL VOLUNTARY AGENCIES
OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES

FROM: Nguyen Van Hanh, Ph.D.
Director
Office of Refugee Resettlement

SUBJECT: 2005 National Refugee Program Consultation

Important Message: Due to administrative and budgetary constraints beyond ORR's control, the 2005 ORR National Consultation has been canceled. ORR will hold three separate meetings in lieu of a national consultation (See State Letter 05-19). The conference is open to everyone participating in the Refugee Program. Individual invitations are not being issued, so please consider this State Letter your official notification. The agenda will cover a broad range of ORR activities.

This year's theme is: "The American Refugee Program: A Proud Past .... A Promising Future". To mark the 25th Anniversary of ORR, we have added an extra attraction to this year's agenda - a Gala Anniversary Dinner on the evening of October 4th, featuring special guests from the past.

ORR has secured the planning and logistical services of CRP, Inc. of Washington, DC. CRP, Inc. will be the direct contact for all logistical services including registration. CRP will be forwarding an information packet including registration forms shortly via e-mail, and material will be posted on the ORR web site: www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/orr. For all logistical questions, please contact Lynita Kimble of CRP, Inc. at (202) 362-0691 or by email at lkimble@crpcorp.com. For questions regarding the content of the consultation, contact Bill Eckhof at 202-401-5544, or weckhof@acf.hhs.gov (e-mail).

We recognize and regret an unavoidable conflict of the Consultation's dates with certain religious holidays. The Consultation dates were, unfortunately, the only time available during the current year at any Washington hotel sufficiently large to hold an ORR Consultation.

I hope you will mark your calendar and plan to attend this important meeting. We look forward to celebrating our 25th anniversary of refugee service!
