Promising Practices

Published: July 12, 2012

Mercy Housing’s Refugee Housing Program—operating under a grant by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)—collected promising practices and success stories in refugee housing across the country. This collection is available by downloading a copy of “At Home with Refugee Housing: Resettlement to Integration” or by contacting us with your order. The Refugee Housing Program hopes that the publication will be not only a celebration of successful initiatives around the United States, but we also expect that the collection will be a source of inspiration for others who are struggling with some of the challenges in helping refugees find quality housing.

In addition to this publication, we highlight innovations in refugee housing in our monthly listserv. We’d love to hear from you!

Has your organization discovered a way to open lines of communication between refugees and landlords? Does your group take an innovative approach to orientation? Find a successful strategy for recruiting and holding on to volunteers? Forge strong partnerships with local apartment owners? Find creative ways to furnish apartments? Share strategies to reduce exorbitant energy bills? Help refugees take steps toward homeownership? We want to hear from you!
