SUBJECT: NEW ORR CONSULTATION PLANS

The purpose of this letter is to announce plans by the Office of Refugee Resettlement to conduct three separate consultations with State government, voluntary resettlement agencies, and Refugee Mutual Assistance Associations during October and November in Washington.
The three consultations will replace the proposed National Refugee Program Consultation originally planned for October 3 -5, which is being cancelled because of administrative and budgetary constraints beyond our control.

We believe the three meetings will help the Office of Refugee Resettlement to meet its statutory obligation to consult with the key components of the Refugee Program which include the States, the Voluntary Agencies, Mutual Assistance Associations, and other interested parties. In the three meetings, we will focus on the separate and individual concerns and issues of each of the components as well as collaboration and cooperation in the provision of services to refugees.

Details, including dates and places for the new meetings in Washington will be announced shortly.
