State Letter #12-10

Formula Allocation Notification Change

Published: July 29, 2013

TO: State Refugee Coordinators

FROM: Eskinder Negash
Director
Office of Refugee Resettlement

SUBJECT: Formula Allocation Notification Change

Attached is a Federal Register Notice, published on Thursday, August 23, 2012, that announces a change in the way that the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) will be providing notification to States and Wilson/Fish grantees of final Social Services and Targeted Assistance formula awards.

As described in the attached Federal Register Notice, for FY 2012, and for future fiscal years, notifications of final formula grant allocations will be published in the Federal Register.  This change is in accordance with the policy of the Administration of Children and Families to simplify the process of providing notification of formula awards to grantees.  ORR will no longer post on the website detailed Funding Opportunity Announcements for these two programs.

In the near future, Notices on the final Social Services and Targeted Assistance formula allocations will be published in the Federal Register.  As each notice is published, ORR will send grantees State Letters with two attachments:  (1) a copy of the Federal Register Notice and (2) the allocation table(s) that previously appeared in the Funding Opportunity Notices, including both final population figures and the final formula grant amounts.  The State Letters and the two attachments will be posted on the ORR website under the State Letter section of the ORR website.  Final formula allocations will no longer be available under the Funding Opportunity section of the website.

If you have any questions about this change, please contact Henley Portner at (202) 401-5363 or Henley.Portner@acf.hhs.gov.

We hope that this new process will be helpful to ORR grantees by making faster notification of formula allocations possible in both these programs.
