Transmittal 2011 - 28: PARIS-Veterans Output File

PARIS MEMBER STATES:

This transmittal provides information regarding the PARIS-Veterans Output File.  States that are authorized to participate in the November 2011 PARIS-Veterans match should expect to receive the Output file from the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) during early December 2011.

Please find attached:

• A draft file layout document The document is an updated version from the layout sent on November 21, 2011 in PARIS Transmittal 2011-27.   The attached draft layout document has been updated to include the state return information at the beginning of the file.  An official, final PARIS-Veterans Output Record Format will eventually be posted to the PARIS website.
• A PARIS-Veterans Output File Crosswalk Document This draft document attempts to map the old BDN layout against the new VETSNET layout.

Future transmittals will include a description of the “Future Improvements” for the PARIS-Veterans Output File.  The testing process identified several minor areas that need improvement that are being addressed for future matches.  A document is also being prepared that includes answers to frequently asked questions about the PARIS-Veterans Output File.
