Americans with Disabilities Act
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in everyday activities, such as buying an item at the store, going to the movies, enjoying a meal at a local restaurant, exercising at the health club, or having the car serviced at a local garage. http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/ada/adahom1.htm

Disabilityinfo.gov
A comprehensive online resource designed to provide people with disabilities with the information they need to know quickly and easily. The site provides access to disability-related information and programs available across the government on numerous subjects, including civil rights, education, employment, housing, health, income support, technology, transportation, and community life.

DisabilityInfo.gov is the result of an Executive Memorandum issued by President George W. Bush on August 28, 2002 as part of his New Freedom Initiative which directed federal agencies to work together to build a one-stop interagency Web portal for people with disabilities, their families, employers, service providers, and community members.

Federal Interagency Coordinating Council
U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs sponsors this page detailing the mission and activities of the Federal Interagency Coordinating Council, especially concentrating on bringing resources together around early childhood initiatives. Family-friendly.

Olmstead Decision
In July 1999, the Supreme Court issued the Olmstead v. L. C. decision. The Court's decision in that case clearly challenges Federal, state, and local governments to develop more opportunities for individuals with disabilities through more accessible systems of cost-effective community-based services.
