ACF Regional Head Start Specialist Recognized for Outstanding Contributions to Social Work
ACF regional Head Start Program Specialist, Shawna Rodrigues, was presented an award for her “Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Social Work” by the Boston University School of Social Work Alumni Association. This award acknowledges and honors a graduate whose contributions to social work have been of exceptional value to the profession and the community-at-large. Shawna’s nominators cited her legacies of improving programming for young children and their families in a variety of capacities. They spoke of her work as a clinician for young children and their families; her strong commitment to Head Start shown in her work as a clinical supervisor, a program director, her two years with the Office of Head Start in DC as a Head Start Fellow, and her work as a Head Start Program Specialist in Region I; serving as the state lead for New Hampshire. They referenced the multiple local, state, and national presentations she has been part of, as she has disseminated knowledge around early childhood mental health, quality program improvements, early childhood systems, and collaboration. For her presentation at the 18th National Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect she was one of three presenters who spoke on collaborations between child welfare and early childhood programs. This presentation was chosen for a webcast that was viewed by professionals all over the US as well as internationally.
