Washington Advisory Committee on Trafficking (WashACT)

Mission Statement

The Washington Advisory Committee on Trafficking (WashACT) was originally convened by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Justice's commitment to the issue of human trafficking. The Committee's mission is to insure that victims of trafficking receive all resources available to them; and that human traffickers are identified, investigated and prosecuted to the utmost extent of the law. The committee also serves as the Advisory Committee for a U.S. Department of Justice human trafficking grant awarded to the Seattle Police Department. Members meet regularly to share information on trafficking and resources to victims of trafficking; to identify and remedy gaps in services to victims; and to coordinate investigations and prosecution of trafficking cases.

Goals

The goals of the Washington Advisory Committee on Trafficking are to:

  • Achieve increased identification of victims of human trafficking
  • Provide enhanced coordinated enforcement of human trafficking crimes and
  • Leverage existing and additional funding to provide comprehensive services to victims of trafficking.
