January - Human Trafficking Awareness Month

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. The ACF Region II co-sponsored and/or participated in the following activities on New Jersey Human Trafficking Awareness Day on Wednesday, January 15, 2014


• The New Jersey Department of Children and Families, the Office of the Attorney General, and the CARES Institute facilitated a training event.  The first presentation focused on Human Trafficking- Gang Related Violence, Exploitation and Intimidation presented by Fairfax County Police Department.  The second presentation was Preventing Human trafficking Through Police Community Partnerships presented by the Gloucester Township Police Department.  Approximately 100 representatives from federal, state, and local agencies and organizations attended the training session.     


• ACF is a member of the New Jersey Coalition Against Human Trafficking.  The New Jersey Coalition Against Human Trafficking and Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle Presented a New Jersey’s Annual Human Trafficking Awareness Day Observance at the Bergan Performing Arts Center.  Approximately 200 people (from federal, state, and local agencies and organizations )attended this event which featured the following; the New Jersey Debut of A Day In The Life- A Live Performance of Survivor Stories written by teens and performed by teens, Courtney Wong singer/songwriter and anti-Human Trafficking activist, and the Justice Movement Dancers.
