Stronger Families New York - Meet and Greet in Yonkers New York

The Stronger Families New York Coalition facilitated a “meet and greet” at the Yonkers Riverfront Library in Yonkers, New York. The event was an opportunity  to develop and enhance current collaborations and partnerships. The meeting, comprised of a multi-disciplinary group, provided an overview of ACF's programs and initiatives and a presentation on the Stronger Families New York coalition.

Joyce A. Thomas, Regional Administrator, Administration for Children and Families (ACF) provided the opening remarks and an overview of the programs and services in the ACF portfolio.  The highlight of the program was a keynote presentation “From Poverty to Opportunity” by Karla Digirolamo, CEO of the New York State Community Action Agency (NYSCAA).  Karla provided an overview of the War of Poverty and how NYSCCA would be hosting a Poverty Tour to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the War on Poverty. The event ended with a networking session where the group discussed service gap areas in the community and identified ways to build stronger New York families.
