Georgia Child Care Director's Training - New Certification Requirement

As of December 1, 2012, all directors must possess at least one of the following at the time of employment:

1. Child Development Associate (CDA) and six months of qualifying child care experience
2. Technical Certificate of Credit* (TCC) and six months of qualifying child care experience
3. Technical College and Diploma* (TCD) and six months of qualifying child care experience
4. Forty-hour (40) director training course approved by the Department and employed for a minimum of five years as an on-site child care learning center director or as an on-site group day care home administrator/director
5. Associate’s degree* and six months of qualifying child care experience
6. Professional Certificate* issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and six months of qualifying child care experience
7. Twenty-five quarter hours or fifteen quarter semester hours* from an accredited college and six months of qualifying child care experience
8. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a field other than ECE and three months of qualifying child care experience
9. Bachelor’s degree* from an accredited college
10. Master’s Degree* from an accredited college
