Business Listening Roundtable, Atlanta, GA 5/8/2013
On May 8, 2013, in partnership with the southeast regional office of the Department of Labor/Employment and Training Administration (DOL/ETA), Region IV hosted the Business Listening Roundtable in Atlanta, Georgia. The purposes were to gain knowledge about 1) barriers to employment from the employer perspective; 2) skill development needs; and 3) how to establish better partnerships with businesses/employers. The meeting was an open forum with approximately 35 individuals representing employers across the region, including nonprofits, businesses of varying sizes, staffing agencies, and human services practitioners. Some of the attendees included Coca Cola, UPS, EGO North America, Goodwill of North Georgia, and representatives from State Departments of Human Services for Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi and regional Workforce (WIA) Providers. Additionally, ACF Deputy Assistant Secretary of Policy provided remarks to help frame the discussion.
