Region IV Child Support/TANF Collaboration Site Visit with Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians

Region IV Child Support and TANF program staff conducted a joint site visit to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians – May 29 – 31, 2013. The site visit included reports training by both programs.  The visit also included a review of opportunities where Child Support and TANF could continue to collaborate in an effort to meet the needs of the tribe. One program that was identified was the Native Employment Works (NEW) job training and placement program, which has the ability to serve clients from both programs.  We were actually introduced to two graduates from the NEW program who now works for the Tribal Child Support Program.

The Tribal Child Support, Tribal TANF and Safe Babies programs are co-located in the same building in an effort to provide one-stop services. The visit concluded with a visit to the New Snowbird office which offers another site for tribal members to access these services for their families.  Please contact Ann for additional information at ann.russell@acf.hhs.gov
