Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day at HHS

On April 25th, National Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work day, kids of the Region 8 staff ranging from as young as two years old to seventeen years old spent the day with their moms and dads. An activity workshop organized and put on by several HHS staff members was created to help give the kids an idea what HHS does and engage in some of our campaigns like the Let’s Move program. Activities had included: Career Bingo, Let’s Move – This is MY Body dance, coloring activities, informal resume and business card building, mock interviews, and button making. After a brief description on HHS, and a game of Career Bingo, kids introduced themselves and shared what they wanted to be when they grow up and their favorite activity. Let’s Move was recognized by the kids when asked and excitement filled the room as they got up to dance.

With the majority of the kids ranging from five to eleven years in age, the dancing did not end and the activity was encouraged not only by the HHS staff but by the older kids in the group as well.

Despite not getting to all the workshops planned, there was definite success and positive feedback from the kids and staff. Kids will surely be returning for next year's National Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day.
