Gloria Montgomery and Cassandra Sewell

Stories of Wisdom, Stories of Truth

The National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU), local chapter 235, sponsored the first annual Black History Program on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. The featured speaker was Cassandra Sewell, a storyteller who shared a powerfully captivating historical portrayal of truth of Harriet Tubman and a portrayal of her grandmother about the trials she faced as an African-American growing up in her native rural Mississippi. With her velvety voice, she intertwined songs from that era and inspired the audience to transform hate into love.
