Louisiana Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Financial Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP – Louisiana’s TANF program)
The Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) provides cash assistance to families with children when the financial resources of the family are insufficient to meet subsistence needs. The goal of FITAP is to decrease the long-term dependency on welfare assistance by promoting job preparation and work.
Another FITAP information resource is the Louisiana Services Directory, which offers links to DCFS and FITAP websites and has contact information for the FITAP program. In addition, the Louisiana Services Directory maintains a listing of the TANF parish offices and is updated regularly.
