Thriving Children and Families: Prevention With Purpose
Every April, we observe National Child Abuse Prevention Month (NCAPM) to to raise awareness of and combat child abuse in all of its forms — through neglect, mistreatment, or physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.
We recognize the importance of supporting families to prevent child abuse and neglect. The most important thing we can do to help children thrive is to support families before they reach a crisis. When families and communities work together, prevention services and supports help protect children and produce thriving families.
This year's NCAPM theme, "Thriving Children and Families: Prevention With Purpose," highlights what it can look like when prevention efforts are guided by the need to build protective factors and provide support to children and families.
NCAPM is also an opportunity to thank the frontline workers, organizations, communities, and other individuals that work hard to promote child and family safety and well-being through a variety of prevention activities and programs -- especially during these times of unprecedented stress and hardship. We appreciate your resilience and dedication to the children and families you serve!
