Assistant Secretary

The Assistant Secretary for the Administration for Children and Families, which is currently vacant, provides:

  • Executive direction, leadership, and guidance for ACF programs and human services issues.
  • National leadership to develop and coordinate public and private initiatives for carrying out programs that promote permanency, placement planning, family stability, and self-sufficiency.

The Assistant Secretary also advises the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on issues affecting America's children and families, including Native Americans, refugees, and victims of human trafficking.
