Funding Opportunities for American Indian Alaska Native tourism projects

This article provides several recent updates and funding opportunities related to American Indian and Alaska Native tourism.

  • The U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency is accepting applications for innovative American Indian Alaska Native Native Hawaiian projects that include job creation and retention, and economic impact for Tribal communities and businesses.
    • The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), a bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce, will fund innovative projects that promote and ensure the inclusion and use of minority enterprises. The focus areas of the American Indian Alaska Native Native Hawaiian (AIANNH) projects are job creation and retention, and economic impact for Tribal communities and businesses. Deadline is May 29, 2019. Applicants may submit questions to the MBDA Program Manager, Nakita Chambers.

  • The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Community and Economic Development (CED) program is accepting applications from private, nonprofit organizations that are Community Development Corporations for projects designed to address the economic needs of individuals and families with low income through the creation of employment and business opportunities.

  • The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation is funding projects that support and strengthen a body of archival practice. These grants provide the opportunity for tribes to document the history of their communities.
