This provides information on two very important consultation events: the HHS Annual Tribal Budget Consultation and the HHS Regional Tribal Consultation Sessions for 2020. Additional information, including contacts, planning calls, and draft agendas can be found at the link below.

2020 HHS Annual Tribal Budget Consultation

The 22nd U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Annual Tribal Budget Consultation (ATBC) will take place April 7-8, 2020, at the Hubert H. Humphrey Building at 200 Independence Avenue SW, Washington, DC. The annual consultation provides a forum for tribes to collectively share their views and priorities with HHS officials on national health and human services funding priorities and make recommendations for the Department’s FY 2022 budget request. The consultation will also provide a venue for a two-way conversation between tribal leaders and HHS officials on program issues and concerns that lead to recommendations for action. Details, contacts, planning calls and draft agendas can be found in the included document as well as at the registration link above.

2020 HHS Regional Tribal Consultations

The 2020 HHS Annual Regional Tribal Consultations. HHS Regional Tribal Consultation (RTC) sessions are designed to provide Tribal Leaders with the opportunity to address HHS on how the Department can improve Tribal outreach and coordination and to discuss programmatic and policy issues and concerns with Tribes. In an effort to improve the dialogue and discussion surrounding policy issues impacting Tribes, HHS restructured last year’s RTC sessions. While allowing Tribes to focus on regional specific issues with their respective regional HHS counterparts, the sessions also provided an opportunity for Tribal leaders to consult with HHS headquarters leadership on national level issues. Please see below for the dates for each respective consultation session:

  • April 22 – 24, 2020: Region 10 : Anchorage, AK
  • May 19, 2020: Region 1: Boston, MA
