Child welfare professionals have a cleaner, easier way to access the most comprehensive collection of information they need to help protect children and strengthen families.
In December 2014, Child Welfare Information Gateway launched a revised website featuring an updated design and interface, streamlined navigation to key content, and mobile-friendly access. These improvements will help professionals connect to free publications, reports, data, resources, and tools on topics from prevention to permanency, including child abuse and neglect, foster care, and adoption.
The changes were implemented in response to audience feedback that was gathered through usability studies, formal customer feedback surveys, and informal comments. Updates to the site include the addition of cross-linking navigation for easier searching and a simpler design to help new users quickly find the information they need.
Child Welfare Information Gateway’s new website launched December 2014.
Some of the more popular resources available on Child Welfare Information Gateway are state statues on child abuse and neglect, child welfare, and adoption; tips and factsheets for families and caregivers, educators, mental health professionals, and others; Logic Model Builders to evaluate program growth and outcomes; and the National Foster Care and Adoption Directory. Many of these free resources are also available in Spanish. Information Gateway’s library contains more than 80,000 titles and offers library searches to support child welfare administrators, program managers, service professionals, and schools of social work.
Please make sure to update your bookmarks, as the new organization required an update to some of the site’s links.
The entire website revision process began more than 12 months ago with an audit of the site’s array of content, followed by a deep analysis of customer survey results and comments regarding the website’s functionality and features. The launch of the new site is supported by the development of a content management system, creating a more efficient method for Information Gateway staff to upload new and revised content.
Child Welfare Information Gateway will continue to offer personal support services, with operators available every weekday via Live Chat and phone at 800.394.3366 to help with questions and information searches.
