RE: Open Comment Period - National Medical Support Notice Part A and Part B

Dear Colleague:

The Administration for Children and Families resubmitted an unchanged information collection package and requested an extension of the current OMB approval of National Medical Support Notice (NMSN) Part A to synchronize with the expiration date of Part B. This will assist the state child support enforcement agencies avoid potential reprogramming at varying times due to future changes in either Part A or Part B.

In compliance with the requirements of Section 3506(c)(2)(A) of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, the Federal Register issued ACF’s Notice of the “Proposed Information Collection Activity; Comment Request,” for the NMSN Part A on July 2, 2012, which is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2012-07-02/pdf/2012-16029.pdf  (PDF). Written comments on Part A must be submitted on or before September 2, 2012.

Additionally, the Federal Register issued DOL Employee Benefits Security Administration’s Notice of the “Proposed Extension of Information Collection Requests Submitted for Public Comment: National Medical Support Notice — Part B, Etc.” on June 25, 2012, which is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2012-06-25/pdf/2012-15392.pdf  (PDF). Written comments on Part B must be submitted by August 24, 2012.

If you wish to comment on these forms and instructions or on the related burden estimate, please follow the instructions for public comment in the Federal Register. Be sure to reference the OMB No. 0970-0222 for Part A and OMB No. 1210-0113 for Part B. Consideration will be given to comments and suggestions submitted within 60 days of the Federal Register notices.

Sincerely,
