Telecommunication Changes
DCL-09-18
DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTER
DCL-09-18
DATE: June 8, 2009
TO:ALL STATE AND TRIBAL IV-D DIRECTORS
RE: Telecommunication Changes
Dear Colleague:
There have been several Dear Colleague Letters (DCL) in the past year announcing telecommunication changes at the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE). The purpose of this letter is to remind States of these upcoming changes so resources can be scheduled accordingly. Below are the announcements of these changes:
- DCL-08-28, Social Security Administration (SSA) Data Exchange Transition, announced Proginet Cyberfusion Integration Suite (CFI)® as the replacement to the Sterling Commerce Connect:Direct (C:D)® data exchange software product. A deadline of September 2009 has been established for all C:D exchanges to migrate to CFI.
- DCL-08-02, Conversion of CSENet File Exchanges from OCSENet to Connect:Direct announced the migration of CSENet from OCSE Network (OCSENet) to C:D. This project was postponed due to SSA replacing C:D with CFI. Once this transition has occurred, OCSE will move forward with the rollout schedule to migrate CSENet file transfers to CFI. This rollout is expected to start later this year.
- DCL-08-29, QUICK to the Internet, announced the use of virtual private network (VPN) to secure State connections to QUICK across the Internet instead of the OCSENet. This initiative was also announced in the 09-01 QUICK Release with rollout to States to begin April 2009. States that are currently in production and those States developing QUICK that have established connectivity through the OCSENet will need to plan for and complete the migration to the Internet for communication of QUICK information within the next two years.
We recognize that these telecommunications initiatives may affect States' resources and planning in different ways. OCSE is committed to supporting States' efforts to ensure that these transitions occur as smoothly as possible and to providing technical support to help each State make this happen.
If you have specific questions on the SSA Data Exchange Transition, contact Charlotte Hancock at charlotte.hancock@acf.hhs.gov.
If you have questions on QUICK to the Internet or CSENet File Exchanges to CFI, contact your CSENet/QUICK End user Support representative or the Service Desk at 1-800-258-2736.
We appreciate your cooperation in supporting the consolidation of our telecommunications methods.
Sincerely,
Donna J. Bonar
