More low-income families will be able to save for new home purchases, start or expand small businesses or receive post-secondary education or training as a result of $7.1 million in federal grants issued to 30 organizations by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families’ Assets for Independence (AFI) program.

Five tribal entities have been awarded a total of $1.5 million in tribal Title IV-E plan development grants for foster care, adoption and guardianship assistance.
