ACF's Fiscal Year 2022 Budget Request

I am pleased to present the FY 2022 President’s Budget request for the Administration for Children and Families (ACF). ACF programs strive to promote the economic and social well-being of children, individuals, families, and communities so that all may participate fully in the benefits of American society.

The FY 2022 ACF Budget supports the President’s American Families Plan with once-in-a-generation investments in our children and our families. The Budget includes important investments in early childhood programs for children from birth to age five that will offer nurturing and caring early learning opportunities and pave the way for the best-educated generation in U.S. history.

First, the budget includes a national partnership with states to offer free, high-quality, accessible, and inclusive preschool to all three-and four-year-old children available in a setting the family chooses, such as child care programs, Head Start, public schools, and private preschools. Second, the budget includes the Child Care for American Families proposal that will generate lifetime benefits for over three million children, while supporting hundreds of thousands of child care providers and workers. Importantly, the Budget proposes investments in the early childhood workforce across settings to ensure that the people who care for and educate young children are fairly compensated.

The Budget also includes several investments that prioritize strengthening prevention in child welfare programs, expanding supports for victims of family violence, providing supports for increased refugee arrivals, and bolstering the capacity of the unaccompanied migrant children program.
