CCWIS Status at the End of Transition Period (July 31, 2018)

The following tables show the status of child welfare information systems or projects in the states and tribes as of July 31, 2018.

As of July 31, 2018, 46 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico declared as CCWIS.

The following is the key for the table columns. Values represented are as of July 31, 2018:

• State/Tribe: Name of the state or tribe
• Project Name: Name of the state's or tribe's information system or project
• Current Child Welfare Information System Status: Whether the system or project is in an operational, development, or planning phase
  • Operational phase: Fully implemented
  • Partially Implemented: Parts of the systems are being utilized while development continues
  • Development phase: Has an approved procurement and is in the process of being implemented
  • Planning phase: Has not yet had a procurement approved
• Declared Transitional CCWIS: State or tribe has declared it will transition its State/Tribal Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (S/TACWIS) or non-S/TACWIS to a CCWIS
• Declared New CCWIS: State or tribe has declared it will build a new CCWIS. This may also apply to states or tribes that are in planning and considering the option of building a new CCWIS. If a state is using CCWIS funding to consider this option, then it falls under the "New CCWIS" status.
• Declared Non-CCWIS: State or tribe either declared it will transition its S/TACWIS or non-S/TACWIS to a non-CCWIS or did not submit documentation regarding CCWIS and the status of the project defaulted to Non-CCWIS at the conclusion of the transition period (July 31, 2018).
• CCWIS Transitional Period Classification: System or project classification at the beginning of the 2-year transition period (August 1, 2016 to July 31, 2018) of the CCWIS regulation
  • Projects that began after August 1, 2016 show N/A as their value in this column
