What are modular procurement and agile development? Why are they often discussed with modular designs?

  • Modular procurement: Breaking up large, monolithic procurements into smaller modules to reduce risk
  • Agile development: An iterative method of making software that focuses on delivering valuable software to users early and often

Effective June 1, 2016, the CCWIS regulations require CCWIS automated functions be developed using a modular design.

This webinar's presenters include Mike Lindsay, senior technical specialist at ICF International and long-time HUD consulting partner, and Gerry Leslie, project director, Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness. Mike will discuss the use of data quality plans associated with HMIS with additional input from Michigan staff who use Michigan’s Statewide HMIS (MSHMIS). An important goal of the MSHMIS Project is to inform both local and statewide public policy about the extent and nature of homelessness.

This webinar will explore address validation processes and tools. Learn how Texas and California approached the challenges of address validation in their respective child welfare case management systems. Speakers will discuss how millions of addresses were standardized, what decisions were made, what problems were encountered and how they were solved, interface considerations, cost issues, tools used, lessons learned, and future system considerations.

This webinar will examine the experience of Maryland’s child welfare agencies and the data standards challenges they face, from counting child protective services and in-home cases, to counting children in out-of-home care, and to assuring that their Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System is meeting minimum data standards for Federal reporting (i.e., the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System, the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System, caseworker visitation, and the National Youth in Transition Database). But among all of Maryland's challenges, none have been more daunting than client identification and establishing basic interagency interfaces.

Rafael López, ACYF commissioner, and other Federal personnel will discuss the advantages and opportunities provided through this new approach to how systems are procured. California staff will provide an overview of what is happening as they move forward with their IT modernization using this agile procurement approach.

This webinar examines the benefits - as well as the mysteries - of modularity when designing a system. The speakers present the basics of modular system development, including when, how, and why to choose modular design. They also highlight Connecticut’s experience with modular development, including the challenges, risks, issues, outcomes, and lessons learned.

The webinar discusses technological challenges that organizations face in providing a completely mobile experience to their workforces. It also demonstrates how user expectations impact and shape enterprise strategy and technology environments.

This webinar will share techniques for accurately estimating information technology projects, from early stage rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates through change requests during project development and implementation.

This presentation highlights the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (NJ DCF) Manage by Data Fellows program, which is a nationally recognized initiative.
