Children's Bureau shared our current thinking on the answers to some of the questions submitted by title IV-E agencies. The webinar included questions and answers about the new data elements, so that the Children’s Bureau may develop relevant technical assistance resources.

This webinar described the Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) Technical Assistance Review Process. It began with an overview of the lessons learned from the Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) review process. The presentation described the iterative review process and it explains the use of self-assessment tools. As of this presentation, some self-assessment tools were available for public comment and others were in development.

This webinar was the first session in the AFCARS Final Rule Training Series. This webinar provides an on the overview of the AFCARS 2020 final rule, published May 12, 2020. It includes a brief description of the changes from the current AFCARS reporting to the new reporting based on the final rule. It also introduces the new compliance and penalties sections of the final rule. This webinar was co-presented with the Division of Performance Measurement and Improvement (DPMI) and the Division of Policy.

This webinar explained how states are using remote/distance training and learning for CCWIS rollout and implementation. This webinar session provided an overview of key strategies for effective and engaging distance learning models for training and onboarding of new staff. State panelists shared lessons learned with using virtual reality during the onboarding and training process as well as lessons learned from quickly pivoting from in-person training to virtual training due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This state panel discussion, featuring Florida and New Mexico, discussed alternatives for sharing child welfare and law enforcement data to improve practice. Florida staff described law enforcement involvement in the investigation process as well as automation to support criminal history checks. New Mexico staff described a law enforcement portal, which supports collaborative work with families. Both states discussed lessons learned and the panel concluded with a question and answer session.

This state panel discussed options for implementing the National Electronic Interstate Compact Enterprise (NEICE). NEICE is the electronic exchange of data regarding the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC). New York staff shared their perspective on using the NEICE Case Management System (CMS) and Ohio staff shared their perspective on incorporating ICPC functionality in the state system with a direct data exchange with the NEICE clearinghouse. In addition, representatives from APHSA answered questions related to the NEICE clearinghouse and to CMS. This webinar concluded with a question and answer session about both options.

This DSS presentation is the first in a two-part series on CCWIS cost allocation and the difference between CCWIS and non-CCWIS cost allocation.  It provides an overview of cost allocation and CCWIS Technical Bulletin #5.  The webinar also explains the CCWIS Automated Function Checklist and its use for cost allocation.

 

This DSS hosted webinar describes the lessons learned from implementing mobile solutions in Washington and in Minnesota, which is a state managed, county-administered state.  The presentation included representatives from Winona County and Carver County Minnesota who spoke about their county-level mobile solutions.

The Children's Bureau hosted a state panel from the previous cloud computing webinar held on September 5, 2018 for a follow-up discussion. The previous webinar on implementing a cloud computing strategy for child welfare information systems received very positive feedback and while it provided valuable information, there was insufficient time to fully explore all the issues. 

The Children's Bureau hosted a state panel discussion on implementing cloud computing/cloud solutions for child welfare information systems. This discussion included a description and background of each state’s implementation of a cloud solution, maintenance and enhancements of the systems with this approach, and lessons learned. The panel concluded with a question and answer session.
