The assessment included a literature review on incidence of AHT; identification of related federal activities, including activities authorized under CAPTA; stakeholder discussions; and broad consideration of benefits and costs involved.

PII Approach

PII is distinguished by its integration of implementation science and rigorous evaluation, known as the PII Approach. This approach supports the implementation of an intervention, as planned, and the use of data-informed decision-making in preparation for undergoing a rigorous evaluation.

The PII-TTAP team provides training and technical assistance to support the PII grantees in better meeting the needs of children and families by developing/adapting, implementing, and scaling up interventions in child welfare. PII-TTAP accomplishes this by providing innovative yet practical training and technical assistance; building capacity for implementation within PII grantee organizations through knowledge dissemination; developing tools for effective application and transfer of implementation best practices; and actively coordinating and collaborating in implementation and evaluation activities.
